Speaking clearly (Photographically)
You ever start to say something and you look at the people your talking too and you realive your point is one falling measurably short of the way you wanted them to react or they are completely not understanding what we are trying to say. Photography is a visual language that is seeking to be a conveyer of what we are trying to say. We have a unique voice each and everyone of us who dares to push the shutter button. The danger we have is simply just "blurting" out something and hoping everyone understands. Sometimes we have to pause. and rethink not from our perspective but the perspective of the viewers of our work. This does not mean we have to pander or not speak as boldly. It does mean we need to understand where they are coming from. Understanding this allows us the ability to better direct our message.
Do we need to reveal a little more of the murkiness in our picture, Perhaps we need to be more judicious about our choice of angles. We may need to come in a little closer or maybe backup and show a little more of the surroundings. We are visual storytellers and part of our method of enticing our audience is speaking clear enough they can follow along.
This picture was taken in Blue Springs, Florida. It was getting near the end of the day and I wanted to communicate a certain stillness. The end of a long day and there being a general sense of tranquility. I reduced the amount of information in the scene by shooting silhouettes, however the coloring definitely gives it a warm bask speaking of the Florida swamp. Natural but not without man's presence . I hope you see the story.
