Finding Inspiration
Its a wonderful thing when you see something and all of a sudden the dam and breaks, your mind explodes with new aspirations. It propels you forward and gives you a new energy to go out and grab your camera and shoot everything. Well that juice is good , but how do you keep it flowing?
One method is going online and through a series of random pictures ala G+, 500px or Fotoblur. This is the default option that I find myself in the vast majority of time. I think it can be a informative options and it does get you seeing new things. However I think it is way to easy to get caught up chasing your tail for a long term study.
A more developed method is to follow the masters. The top photographers that make their money not primarily from teaching but from being in the field. The people that National Geographic employs, the people who actually host exhibitions. Primarily I think because there is a set style it makes it easier to follow. It allows the viewer to understand they are not caught up in gimmick but really understand the craft.
Finally looking to other art forms primarily I think in terms of Cinema and Painting. Because the art form is different it lets you step out of your comfort zone and really gets you to thinking what potentially can be done that captures teh feel.
So those are my thoughts what about yours.
