Engagement

There a few things like  a photograph that pulls you into its core. Sometimes the nature of the subject is so intricate that it forces teh viewer to pause and crawl  through the frame. Other times sight lines can tell the viewer that you to are a participant. It is a wonderful feeling when people stop and take a deeper look at the image and start to see the image as not just "another picture" in a picture drunk world but something to ponder a bit

One of the key features I like about this picture is the rich colors in the  image  from her eyes to the background color and her locks of hair. It all builds up and I think the exposure levels and her obvious eye lines and my POV help to contribute toward an image that hopefully hold peoples attention for a moment  and  encourages them to look around a bit. Shallow DOF and  overall sharpness tell exactly where to look. This engagement  is one of the key things I want to try to hone in on in the year ahead.
